Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Certificates

The Post-Professional Occupational Therapy (OT) Certificates at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUoHP) are completed entirely online. These certificates are designed to enable occupational therapists to meet personal and professional obligations while pursuing advanced education. These certificates provide an opportunity for occupational therapists to add another specialty to their expertise. Students can also transfer the certificate courses as academic credit to the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. The three RMUoHP Occupational Therapy certificates are:

  • Assistive Technology Practice Certificate
  • Pediatric Practice Certificate
  • Leadership in Practice Certificate

Admissions Requirements

  1. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited college or university.
  2. One year of clinical practice in occupational therapy.
  3. Possess information technology skills sufficient to participate effectively in an online learning management system, such as, Blackboard, Angel, and Canvas.

The Assistive Technology Practice Certificate focuses on a specialized area of occupational therapy led by faculty who are certified in Assistive Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology. The certificate prepares occupational therapists to meet the technological needs of their clients. Applying assistive technology will help children and adults with disabilities have access to their environments and more fully live their everyday lives. The Assistive Technology Certificate will equip occupational therapists to:

  1. Integrate clinical experience with newfound assistive technology skills to improve the quality of clinical outcomes for the patient.
  2. Appraise and apply research.
  3. Be aware of global trends in order to find diverse solutions that will benefit clients.
  4. Use evidence to produce effective clinical outcomes.

The Leadership in Practice Certificate prepares clinicians for a leadership and managerial roles. Certificate faculty are experienced in running successful occupational therapy clinics. RMUoHP Leadership in Practice Certificate teaches clinicians how to lead and motivate people through transformative leadership as well as how to effectively run occupational therapy businesses and clinics.
