Congratulations to Dr. Kenda Huseby, DNP (RMU preceptor), and Dr. Kristen Johnson, DNP (RMU alumnus) for being awarded the 2023 AANP State Award for Excellence in Wyoming. The recognition from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) took place at the organization’s annual conference in New Orleans.
Dr. Huseby has been instrumental in guiding nursing students during their clinical rotations. Her efforts in increasing awareness and recognition of nurse practitioners have earned her the prestigious Advocate State Award for Excellence.

Meanwhile, Dr. Johnson, an accomplished alumna of RMU, stands as a trailblazer in Wyoming. She is the first nurse practitioner to serve as a state health officer for a Wyoming county. She was honored with the Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence for her outstanding clinical practice and her efforts to elevate the image, profile, and visibility of nurse practitioners at the state level.
