Entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) Description
Our DPT program prepares graduates for entry into the advanced field of autonomous practice as physical therapists.
Doctors of physical therapy use an evidence-based focus for their practices with a strong emphasis on social responsibility, leadership and ethics. With a nationally recognized faculty and progressive educational facilities, the RMUoHP doctoral degree program is widely acknowledged for its outstanding educational standards.
Using a traditional, campus-based curriculum, the DPT program provides students with an intensive clinical education in addition to rigorous academic learning experiences that incorporate classroom, laboratory, offsite and online settings. The DPT program consists of eight semesters and 133 credit hours, including 51 weeks of hands-on clinical experience which is 42% more than the national average.
Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) Admission Prerequisites
Applicants for the DPT program at Rocky Mountain University must meet stated prerequisites.
Included in these requirements are a baccalaureate degree and the successful completion of all prerequisites courses, which include eight semester hours each in chemistry and physics and three hours each in biology, anatomy and statistics. You also must have completed a course in physiology (four hours) as well as six hours in behavioral sciences. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for prerequisite courses. Applicants also must have met minimum GRE score requirements within the past five years.
Applicants also must be able to document a minimum of 100 hours of experience (paid or volunteer) under a licensed physical therapist and provide professional, academic and personal references.
