Kimberly Lloyd

Associate Professor

Dr. Lloyd received her Masters of Occupational Therapy (MOT) from Idaho State University (ISU) in 2004 and completed her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) from Rocky Mountain University in 2019. Dr. Lloyd has 18+ years clinical experience and 10 years of full-time experience in higher education as an assistant, now associate professor. At ISU she served as Academic Fieldwork Educator and Director of Clinical Education for 10 years and 2 years as the Chair of the Admissions Committee. Since 2020 Dr. Lloyd has served as an adjunct faculty member, capstone reviewer for the ppOTD program and recently has been assisting with the candidacy application for the eOTD program here at RMUoHP. Dr. Lloyd is now the founding Program Director of the COTA/MOT bridge program here at RMUoHP as of August 1, 2022.

Dr. Lloyd has designed/implemented numerous graduate-level courses and continuing education trainings related to aging in place, fieldwork education and dementia. Dr. Lloyd has 6 interprofessional grants that have been funded and been part of four external interprofessional grant application (NIH, NSF & DOD). She has delivered 19 peer-reviewed presentations and 12 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Lloyd continues to be involved in research as the PI or co-PI with topics that include occupation-based practice vs. occupation-based intervention, intervention for sleep disturbances with adults with dementia, the dosage of commonly used occupational therapy intervention strategies, and exploring the use of sensory-based intervention for sleep among children with autism spectrum disorder.

Dr. Lloyd has significant experience with community-based programs that include Baby Boomers (a health program for medically fragile clients), Humpty Dumpty (fall prevention program), adult neurological interprofessional educational treatment team, interdisciplinary Thomas Geriatric Symposium and was part of creating the Bengal Experience (ADL/IADL summer camp for prospective college students with disabilities). During her time at ISU she received the Kasiska Division of Health Sciences (KDHS) Interprofessional Collaborator of the year award in 2017 and the KDHS Clinical Researcher of the year award in 2018.

Dr. Lloyd is the co-founder and CEO of POTEN, where she manages research and projects/interventions of adaptive devices for individuals with disabilities and individuals with general issues related to aging and aging in place.
