FAQ’s
Is this program completely online?
Our limited-residency program is 100% online for the first 3 semesters (the first year). During semesters 4 through 8 there is one onsite visit per semester for 3 to 5 consecutive days. In semesters 7 and 8 you will complete your scholarly project (allowing you to become a content expert in an area of your choice).
Can I enroll in this program if I already have an MSN?
Yes! We have students that choose to enroll in our post-bachelor’s DNP/FNP program because they are able to earn both their DNP and FNP in only about 2.5 years.
Do most of your students continue to work as a nurse during the program?
Yes! Our program is designed for the working professional. The majority of students continue to work throughout the program.
Do I have to attend the onsite visits?
Yes, attendance is required for onsite instruction.
When do clinicals start?
You’ll begin clinical contact hours during your second year of the program. Clinicals last from semesters 4 to 8. You’ll work with populations all across the lifespan, with a different focus each semester.
Will the program find my preceptors for me?
In our program, you are ultimately in charge of securing your own preceptors for the required 750 clinical contact hours. This allows you to build your professional network and complete these hours within your own community. However, the nursing program provides a step-by-step process and strategies to assist you in finding clinical preceptors.
