    • The statement of professional goals, on the application, should include current intellectual and professional interests and personal motivations as to why the student is applying to the degree program
    • Resume/CV. Including detailed employment history, career history, extracurricular activities, etc.
  • Official transcripts from each prior graduate institution from which a degree was earned

  • Admissions Disclosures:

     

    1. Admission is limited and selective. All completed applications will be considered for admission. All applicants must demonstrate a previous record of successful academic achievement, clinical experience, and the motivation to pursue graduate-level education.

    2. Application materials can be emailed or mailed. Official transcripts may be mailed or emailed. Official transcripts must originate from the institution’s Registrar Office. Any transcripts emailed from the applicant will be considered unofficial.

    3. Full Disclosure Requirement: Incomplete or falsified admission information constitutes grounds for a refusal to admit or immediate dismissal, loss of credit, and forfeiture of all tuition and fees paid.

    4. Confidentiality: Admissions materials received by the University are kept in strict confidence. Once the application materials are received, these materials are the property of the University and will not be returned to the applicant. All applicant materials are kept for one year following receipt if the applicant does not enroll.

    *Students in the Healthcare Leadership and Administration concentration track and bachelor’s-prepared students who take theHLA 620 course will have a course fee of $115 for the HLA 620 course, which will be used to purchase a validated emotional intelligence assessment report.

    *Students in the Psychiatry concentration track will have a course fee of $200 for the PMH 790 course and a course fee of $200 for the PMH 795 course.

    Students in the DMSc program (regardless of concentration track) choose between two curriculum models to complete the 36 credit hours: the Integrated Model and the Phased Model. Both curriculum models are designed so PA clinicians, educators, and administrators can continue professional work obligations while completing this degree. In the Integrated Model, students complete the practicum and applied scholarly project courses concurrently with the other didacticcourses. Students may complete the Integrated Model in as little as four semesters. In the Phased Model, students complete the didactic courses before completing the practicum and applied scholarly project courses. Students may complete the Phased Model in as little as five semesters.

    PAs with bachelor’s degrees who have not previously completed a master’s or doctoral degree may enroll in the DMSc program and will be required to successfully complete the following additional courses that are offered by Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions:

    FAQs

    How long is the program?

    The program is 5 to 6 semesters depending on if you choose the thesis or capstone option at the end of the program. The capstone project is completed and defended during the fifth semester, and the master’s thesis is completed over the fifth and sixth semesters of the program. The oral defense of the capstone can be completed online or onsite. The oral defense of the thesis must be completed onsite.

    Do I have to come on campus during the program?

    No, this program is completely online. However, if you choose the thesis option, one on-campus visit is required at the end of the program to defend your thesis.

    Can this degree lead to the PhD in Health Sciences?

    Yes! This program can bridge into our PhD program.

    Is there certification/licensure given at the end of the program?

    The Health & Wellness Coaching track prepares students for the National Board Certification Exam to become a Certified Health and Wellness Coach. None of the other tracks lead to certification/licensure.

    Is the GRE required?

    No, you do not need to take the GRE to apply for our MSHS program.

    ASSOCIATION RECOGNITION

    The National Strength and Conditioning Association officially recognizes Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions Graduate Studies Program for successfully meeting established criteria.

    NBHWC Approval

    Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions has achieved “Approval Status” from the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), which means that students who complete the 3-course sequence below, are eligible to sit for the exam to become a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach.

    1. Successfully complete the courses, WE 710, and WE 711 including all synchronous hours.
    2. Pass the Coaching Practical Examination at the end of WE 711
    3. Complete any other requirements set forth by the NBHWC, which currently includes, completion and documentation of 50 coaching sessions after passing the practical exam in WE 711,  and paying the application/exam fees.
    4. As NBHWC requirements are subject to change, students should refer to the website, https://nbhwc.org/hwc-certifying-examination-application/ for the most updated information.
