New healthcare professionals to touch, help and heal millions of people
Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUoHP) graduated 137 master’s and doctoral degree students of various healthcare specialties during its Saturday commencement ceremonies.
Dr. Richard P. Nielsen PT, DHSc, ECS, and founding president of RMUoHP, said to students, “You are the new generation of healthcare providers. It now falls on you to apply those things you have learned … to serve the estimated millions of people over your careers – patients that will be touched by you, helped by you, healed by you.”
The 2018 graduating class received their advanced degrees during the 20th Anniversary year of Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Since its founding in 1998, there have been approximately 2,337 graduates in advanced healthcare specialties.
RMUoHP estimates that graduates currently treat tens-of-thousands of patients throughout the country every day, and over the course of their cumulative careers, will serve millions of people.
“The quality of care these patients receive is evidence of the quality of education our graduates receive,” said Nielsen.
RMUoHP graduates experience:
- a 97% student satisfaction rate
- more than a 99% job placement rate
- an overall graduation rate of 87%
- a national board pass rate of 98-100%
During Saturday’s commencement, RMUoHP graduates received degrees in the following areas:
- Master of Science in Health Science
- Master of Physician Assistant Studies
- Doctor of Occupational Therapy (Post Professional)
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (Transitional)
- Doctor of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology (Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology)
- Doctor of Nursing Practice
- Doctor of Science in Health Science
- Doctor of Philosophy
During his commencement speech, RMUoHP alumnus Dr. Gregory D. Myer, Ph.D., FACSM, CSCS*D, and director of the research and human performance laboratory for the division of sports medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, reminded graduates they will have many opportunities with their advanced degrees including leadership opportunities
“One of the leadership opportunities you are going to have is to advance your network,” said Myer. “In your network, be a giver. Givers are not looking for anything from you; they are just asking how they can help. They want to do something that is small for them, but big to the person they are giving. Think about how you can continually give every day of your life.”
