Emily Kosderka is an Assistant Professor of Exercise & Sport Science at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. A Northwest native, Emily grew up on Whidbey Island, just north of Seattle, and attended Willamette University. There, she studied Exercise Science and discovered her passion for athletic training. After finishing her undergraduate degree, Emily attended Indiana University where she completed her master’s degree in 1998. Upon graduation from Indiana, she spent 3 years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Lewis & Clark College followed by 12 years as Concordia University’s Head Athletic Trainer.
In 2013, Emily joined the Exercise & Sport Science program as a full time faculty member. She is currently working toward a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree through Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, UT. Her research is examining the role of active recovery following sport related concussion. Emily is an ImPACT trained Athletic Trainer (ITAT) and an invited speaker at multiple athletic training and emergency medical services conferences around the country.
Emily lives in Wilsonville with her husband Matt Kosderka, head baseball coach for Lewis & Clark College. Together, they enjoy chasing their two very active children: daughter, Sydney & son, Colby.
