Optometry Scholarship

The Foundation Board of Directors of Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions is pleased to sponsor a scholarship for the benefit of Optometry students at the University. Multiple scholarship awards are available for enrolled Optometry students who demonstrate great academics and community service. There are three tiers of awards, and if awarded, your tier will be determined by your application and the Optometry scholarship committee. Tier 1- $30,000 award. Tier 2- $20,000 award. Tier 3- $10,000 award.

Who can apply for an Optometry Scholarship through the Financial Aid Office of Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions?

Scholarships are reserved for newly enrolled Optometry students of the RMU who are in good academic standing.

How can I apply for an Optometry Scholarship?

Scholarship applications are available via Award Spring and can be accessed by clicking on the link above. You will need to submit a general application.  You will also need to submit an essay describing your community service and submit entrance exam scores.

Are there admission or grade requirements for the Optometry Scholarship?

Students must be admitted to RMU and registered for a full-time class schedule in order to apply (including online or Independent Study courses). Those who are selected for a scholarship will be required to maintain satisfactory progress toward graduation.

What is the application deadline for the Optometry Scholarship?

There will be one period of time throughout the year that this scholarship will be open for applications. They will be accepted during the March application cycle, and the deadline for this application period will be the 15th of the month unless stated otherwise on the website.

How will I know if I was selected for an Optometry Scholarship?

Scholarship awardees will be notified within 60 days of the receipt of their completed application. Scholarship funds will be awarded on or after the add/drop deadline of each semester. Some funds will be evenly distributed throughout the duration of the student’s program. The scholarship may be used to help students defray their tuition and living expenses.

If I have previously received an Optometry Scholarship, will I automatically receive one next year or do I need to reapply?

No. If you are interested in receiving another scholarship, you need to submit a new application. Scholarships are not automatically renewed.

If you are a Financial Aid recipient, receiving any scholarship will affect your Cost of Attendance (COA), and it is your responsibility to notify the Financial Aid Office if you are selected for an award. Should you be awarded a scholarship from any source (internal or external), take time to send the institution a “Thank You” letter.
