Dr. Benjamin Collins is an assistant professor in the Rocky Mountain University College of Optometric Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Collins graduated from optometry school as a member of the Optometric Honors Society. Upon graduating, he and his family moved to Colorado to practice optometry, where he practiced for 13 years. While in Colorado, Dr. Collins practiced in a few different practice settings, including private practice and in a large surgery center with ophthalmologists. Dr. Collins developed a practice focused in eye disease and enjoyed examining the elderly population and the ocular conditions common to that age group.
In addition to practicing optometry, Dr. Collins is also quite active in his state optometric associations. He has served on the board of trustees for both the Colorado and Utah optometric associations. Dr. Collins also earned the Colorado Young Optometrist of the Year Award in 2014 for founding the Western Colorado Optometric Society, a society dedicated to providing local, continuing education for optometrists in more rural areas of the state. In his spare time, Dr. Collins enjoys fly fishing and just spending time outdoors near lakes and rivers.
