Dr. F. David Paulson is married to Kimberlie (Toone) Paulson, is the proud father of four children, and grandfather of nine. He has served full-time as an Assistant Professor with Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions since May 2018. Before that time, he worked for eight years as an adjunct instructor in the DPT program at RMU. He treats patients two mornings weekly at American Fork Hospital in the Outpatient Physical Therapy Clinic. Prior to coming to RMU full-time, he served as a PT at Orem Community Hospital and as a manager and clinician at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. He managed physical therapy throughout Utah Valley at Intermountain Health. He has over 34 years of clinical Orthopedic Manual Therapy experience specializing in the spine, extremities, TMJ, and headache. Dr. Paulson has been the lead instructor for clinical education courses in therapeutic exercise, posture correction, pain management for the neck, head and TMJ, and managing low back pain; he is also an instructor for Graston Technique®. He became board-certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 1997 and re-certified in 2007 and 2017. Paulson developed and taught a residency program in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and is the owner of Northstar Physical Therapy, a physical therapy education and products company. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in 1988, received a Master of Physical Therapy degree from the US Army-Baylor University program in 1990, and completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2008 from Baylor University. Dr. Paulson served as an Active-Duty Army Physical Therapist for over six years and Retired from the US Army Reserve in June 2018 after a combined 30 years of service in the US Army. He retired with the rank of Colonel. His final three assignments with the Army Reserve included Chief of Clinical Services for a Medical Training Support Battalion, Chief of Operations and Training for the 328th Combat Support Hospital, and the Army Medical Specialist Corps Reserve Component Chief. Dr. Paulson has also taught as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Exercise Sciences at Brigham Young University for several years.
