Kristen Johnson

PT, EdD, MS, NCS

Associate Professor

Dr. Johnson received her bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University in 1997 and began her practice first in acute care and wound care and then neurologic rehabilitation in Houston, Texas. She returned to school and received her Advanced Masters in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University, Houston Campus and her Doctorate in Education from the University of St. Augustine. She has previously held an adjunct faculty position with Texas Woman’s University, Houston, Texas and at Mesa Community College, San Diego, California. She is currently a full time associate professor with the University of St. Augustine in San Marcos and teaches in the residential programs across campuses and in the FLEX program for Clinical Neuroscience, Neuromuscular I & III courses. Kristen received her competency based training in Vestibular Rehabilitation and is a Board Certified Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Kristen is also certified in the Neurodevelopmental Treatment of Adult Hemiplegia, and as a Certified Clinical Instructor. Kristen is currently the Co-chair for regional education for the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy and is a member of the IV STEP post dissemination team. Her clinical and research interests lie in patients with balance and vestibular disorders, traumatic brain injury and stroke.
