Laura Wood is an Associate Professor at Lesley University. She is licensed as a counselor in multiple states, as well as a Registered Drama Therapist Board Certified Trainer, and Certified Child Life Specialist. Her research is focused on using creativity in counseling to work with people in various forms of recovery, including eating disorders, addictions, trauma, and severe and persistent mental illness. Her global contributions through teaching, lectures, and consultation have helped advance the practice of creativity in counseling and drama therapy. Her co-authored book: Drama Therapy and Recovery The CoActive Therapeutic Theater Model through Routledge. The book proposes the first manualized model of therapeutic theater in an effort of creating the first evidenced based therapeutic theater model. In 2024 she won the Thelma T. Duffey Award through the Association for Creativity in Counseling, a division of ACA.
