Lauriann Mahealani Broad, NP, APRN, FNPC, WHNPC has served as a Nurse Practitioner in Honolulu, Hawaii since 1997. She has worked in various settings as an NP including physical examinations and treatment in the home with Episource Health, which encompassed the care of patients on the island of Oahu as well as Kauai. As an NP, she worked from 2008 – 2017 in the Women’s Health Clinic, the Veterans Homeless Program, and the Gastroenterology and Post Traumatic Clinics at Veteran’s Affairs in Honolulu, Hawaii. Prior to the VA, Dr. Mahealani worked in the Public Health Division of Tripler Army Medical Center, Department of Defense from 1989 to 2008.
Dr. Mahealani served as an Adjunct Faculty for the University of Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific College Schools of Nursing, precepting both Bachelor’s and Master’s nursing program students beginning in 2008.
Her nursing experience has been vast as she also worked as a U.S. Navy Reservist Nurse Corps Officer from 1989 until her retirement as a Navy Captain in 2016. She has provided medical care on many deployments and missions around the world, supporting the needs of the military as a nurse practitioner. Medical care and treatment included military personnel at clinics throughout the United States as well as individuals abroad in remote villages including the Philippines, Columbia, Japan, and throughout the South Pacific.
Dr. currently works as a call-in medical provider for the filming industry in Hawaii, in which she provides nursing care and treatment of filming personnel for minor and acute medical injuries.
Her hobbies include canoe paddling, pickle ball, and hula. She enjoys being with family and friends and, in general, celebrating life.
