Matt P. Malcolm, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA joined RMU on June 1, 2022 as Professor and Director of the Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate program. He also serves as Chair of RMU’s Academic Leadership Council and is Associate Editor of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy. Dr. Malcolm is a nationally and internationally recognized educator and scholar. He recently completed a Visiting Professorship at Yamagata Prefectural University of Health Sciences in Yamagata, Japan. In 2018, Dr. Malcolm was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Large Data Research and Data Sharing (CLDR) at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Malcolm’s research focuses on health and rehabilitation services, disparities, and outcomes and assistive technology services and outcomes and has been funded by more than $2 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, American Occupational Therapy Foundation, CLDR, GlaxoSmithKline, and the Veterans Administration. He has published more than 50 articles and proceedings in highly reputable scientific journals, including more than 20 publications with his research students. As a result of his collaborative research efforts and leadership, Dr. Malcolm was inducted into the American Occupational Therapy Association Roster of Fellows (FAOTA) in 2022. Serving on the State of Colorado Department of Higher Education Disability Services committee, Dr. Malcolm is a strong advocate for equal access to higher education for individuals with disabilities.
