Michael Begg DMSc, PA-C, ATC– Mike is a Physician Assistant with over 25 years of Orthopedic surgical and clinical experience. Along with National Certification as a Physician Assistant, Mike also holds National Certification as an Athletic Trainer, a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Sports Medicine, and a Doctor of Medical Science Degree. Concurrent to playing and active role in a busy clinical and surgical practice, Mike has taken a lead role in the education and professional mentoring of Orthopedic Surgery Fellows and Athletic Training Residents for over 20 years. Educating these two groups regarding clinical and surgical setting is but a small part of the overall approach taken, with mentoring all to reach professional and personal goals focusing on leadership with integrity and intrinsic reward being a consistent undertone. Mike also has been involved with the leadership team within the clinic with an emphasis on professional culture and interdepartmental communication. He has been affiliated with The Steadman Clinic for his entire career, either working with one of the Orthopedic Surgeons in the Vail Clinic or alongside of one of The Steadman Clinic Orthopedic Trained Fellows. His experience is extensive and includes both upper and lower extremity Sports Medicine, Adult Reconstruction, Non-Operative Pain and Spine and Regenerative Medicine.
Recently, Mike has pursued the role of Clinical Trials Physician Assistant for the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, responsible for several Clinical Trials funded by the United States Department of Defense and other philanthropic organizations.
Throughout his career, Mike has been actively involved with education within the clinic as well as providing educational opportunities through his own business venture, as well as working with other educational organizations. Mike has certification in Leadership and Professional Mentoring through the John Maxwell Group, a long-time leader within these fields.
