Dr. Patrick Scott is a clinician-scientist-educator with an extensive research background in ocular anatomy, histology, physiology, and embryology. Dr. Scott completed his Master of Science in Vision Science (MS) and Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree at the New England College of Optometry, and then went on to complete a Master of Arts (MA) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Anatomy and Neurobiology, as well as a post-doctoral research fellowship in Ophthalmology at Boston University School of Medicine. He is full-time faculty and Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at University of Louisville (UofL) School of Medicine. Dr. Scott taught cadaveric dissection in the medical and dental gross anatomy courses at UofL for over 10 years. Dr. Scott is the Director of the Contact Lens Service and has been practicing comprehensive optometry for over 15 years. He is a recipient of numerous awards including the National Glaucoma Society’s Resident Award, AOF William C. Ezell Fellowship, Fight For Sight Grant-in-Aid, and AOF/Beta Sigma Kappa Research Fellowship. Dr. Scott has authored numerous peer reviewed research papers and is the author of Scott’s Anatomy of the Eye and Orbit, Essential Ophthalmoscopy for Medical Students and General Practitioners, and Scott’s Head & Neck Anatomy for Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.
