Dr. Raegan Furman received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Health Science with a concentration in neurological rehabilitation from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Furman University. Dr. Furman is an assistant professor in the entry-level OTD program, facilitating the pediatric, scholarly inquiry, and adult neurological courses. Dr. Furman serves as the chair of the Teaching Effectiveness Committee and the Faculty Development Committee at RMU, focusing on evidence-based approaches to curriculum development and instructional delivery and ensuring effective and authentic student experiences. Dr. Furman previously served as the education track director for the post-professional OTD program, facilitated courses as adjunct facilities in the health professions education, pOTD, and PhD curriculums at RMU, and currently serves as a capstone mentor for pOTD students. Dr. Furman also taught undergraduate health science courses at Concordia University and Furman University. Dr. Furman has clinical experience in both adult and pediatric populations in inpatient settings, including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and neonatal intensive care settings. For the majority of her career, she practiced in a comprehensive pediatric hospital setting (inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient rehabilitation). Her passion is teaching and clinical practice with the pediatric neurological population. Dr. Furman loves the opportunity the OT profession gives her to connect with clients and families throughout their medical journey. Dr. Furman’s research interests include the impact of intensity on functional outcomes following pediatric rehabilitation, family-centered care during inpatient rehabilitation, teaching effectiveness, and instructional design and learning in hybrid environments. She is an official reviewer for the American Journal of Occupational Therapy.
