Sonia Paquette

Associate Professor

Dr.  Sonia Paquette has been teaching with RMU since 2010 in the post-professional doctorate programs in occupational therapy and physical therapy. She won the 2014 Outstanding Alumni Award and the 2024 Adjunct Faculty Award by RMU. She currently also works as the Senior Program Manager of Ergonomics for the Permanente Medical Group of Kaiser Permanente in the Mid-Atlantic States in addition to teachings at RMU.

Dr. Paquette trained in occupational therapy both at the bachelors and doctoral level (McGill University ’87, Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, ’07) and as an ergonomist (Industrial engineering school, Polytechnical Institute of Montreal, ’93). She also completed a post-masters certificate in forensic vocational rehabilitation in 2010 (Minnesota State University, Mankato).

Over the course of her career, she worked primarily in return to work/stay at work rehabilitation in private practice and as an expert witness for lawyers. She presented in numerous national and international conferences to rehabilitation professionals, engineers, lawyers and physicians on return-to-work and ergonomics.

She has published three peer-reviewed articles and four professional handbook chapters.
