Stacey Pfenning

Associate Professor

Dr. Stacey Pfenning, a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2002, joined RMUoHP as Associate Professor in 2013. Dr. Pfenning has experience in clinical practice, academia, regulation, and health policy. Her clinical background involves a variety of setting including emergency & trauma, rural critical access hospitals, primary care clinics, private practice, and correctional facilities.

Dr. Pfenning is the North Dakota Executive Director for the Board of Nursing and is the ND commissioner for the Nurse Licensure and APRN Licensure Compacts. Dr. Pfenning serves leadership roles for both nurse licensure compacts and for several local and national committees focused on nursing practice, regulation, education, and policy. Dr. Pfenning was inducted as an American Association of Nurse Practitioner Fellow in 2017.

Dr. Pfenning earned her Master’s in Nursing degree from University of Mary, Bismarck, ND in 2002 and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2008.
