Dr. Verl T. Pope is a Professor of Counseling and the founding Program Director for the new counseling programs at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. He has extensive experience in counseling program development and counseling accreditation. He served as the Counseling Program Chair for the Utah Campus of the University of Phoenix. Prior to that, he was a Professor of Counseling and Chair of the Department of Counseling, Social Work and Leadership at Northern Kentucky University. Dr. Pope was also a professor and taught counseling at Southeast Missouri State University.
Dr. Pope holds a doctorate in Counselor Education and Counseling from Idaho State University. He has worked in several agencies, both public and private. He has consulted with the Departments of Probation and Parole, juvenile offices, schools, and courts on assessment and counseling issues.
Further, Dr. Pope consults with other agencies and universities on accreditation issues. He is a licensed professional counselor in Utah (CMHC), and Missouri (LPC). He is nationally certified as a counselor (NCC), a mental health counselor (CCMHC), and a clinical supervisor (ACS). He has served or currently serves on several state and national committees, including seven years on the Missouri State Committee for Professional Counselors. He maintains a number of professional memberships, has published in professional venues, and has given many presentations from local and state, to national and international levels.
