Instructor

Wendy St. James, PhD, LSC, has been teaching Utah K-12 Comprehensive Guidance Curriculum for the past 20 years. For the last four years, she has taught School Counseling classes in the University of Phoenix Master’s program.

Dr. St James’ practical experience as a school counselor at the elementary, middle, and high school levels has given her graduate students the opportunity to learn about the uniqueness of counseling at each grade level. She believes adults construct knowledge from their own experiences, and thinks of herself as more of a guide on their journey than a “sage on the stage.”

Her doctoral thesis was called “Teachers’ perspectives of implementing an advisory curriculum at an urban middle school.” She enjoys research about school change, and how schools reflect culture and society.
