The IRB & SoTL: An Exploration into the Ethical Complications of SoTL Research & Potential Solutions

Synopsis:
This talk is aimed at the novice SoTL researcher and will focus on exploring the ethical implications of SoTL research on the protection of human subjects. Specifically, we will explore the common IRB challenges that researchers often face while conducting SoTL research. Through a detailed case example, this talk will investigate potential solutions to the complications of SoTL research and how to best protect human subjects while promoting efficiency. Following the presentation, there will be time for questions to be raised that further explore this topic.
