Student Involvement & Support Services
The Office of Student Engagement and Success is here to assist students with their graduate school journey inside and outside of the classroom. We offer a variety of resources and services available on-campus or virtually, such as housing and transportation, information, and ways to get involved.
Get Involved at RMU
As an RMU student, you have several opportunities to get involved and make a difference for the RMU community. If you are a residential student, we encourage you to run for a position in your student leadership during your first semester. All students are also welcome to join our AIC, Student Social Association, and Student Service Association. Please read the sections below for more information and reach out to sss@rm.edu to learn more about these opportunities.
Student Leadership (Residential Students)
If you are a residential student, your cohort leadership group will be organized during your first semester on campus.
Student leaders represent in their cohort and program on all matters pertaining to their general welfare as graduate students, including extracurricular activities, professional development opportunities, networking, and more. Cohort leadership councils also serve as liaisons to their cohort and communicate with their program, other RMU student cohort leadership councils, and the University
To get in touch with your cohort’s leadership group, reach out to your program coordinator or email sss@rm.edu.
RMU Student Senate
The RMU Student Senate is comprised of student representatives from every academic program at the University. It serves as a communication conduit to ensure the student voice is heard and to ensure that students are aware of University initiatives. Students serving on the Student Senate can collaborate with other Senate representatives from all academic programs on initiatives and goals to improve the student experience at RMU. If you are interested in serving on the RMU Student Senate, please get in touch with your program director or the Office of Student Engagement and Success at oses@rm.edu.
Authentic Inclusive Community (AIC)
The RMU Authentic Inclusive Community (AIC) provides students with an opportunity to represent their individuality and support the inclusion of diverse and multicultural interests across campus. Students serve alongside faculty and staff, working collaboratively to strengthen RMU’s sense of community.
The AIC promotes a campus culture that encourages meaningful social interaction and fosters appreciation and celebration of our differences. Through planning educational events and panel discussions, the committee works to prevent and address inequities affecting individuals and communities.
Students interested in becoming involved with the AIC are encouraged to contact Dr. Courtney Moore (courtney.moore@rm.edu) or Charli Purser (charli.purser@rm.edu).
Student Social Association (all students)
Student Social Association (SSA) members represent the social needs and interests of all students by providing non-academic opportunities for student engagement through student-run activities. The Student Social Association strives to build a unified campus community where all residential and non-residential students can come together and create lasting social connections.
All current RMU students are invited to be a part of the Student Social Association! If you’d like to be involved, please contact sss@rm.edu.
Student Service Association (all students)
The Student Service Association helps create student-led opportunities for RMU students to provide service and be involved in the community.
If you’d like to be involved, please contact sss@rm.edu.
Service Opportunities
Every year, the Office of Student Engagement and Success organizes an annual service event in Utah that all students are invited to participate in. Every residential student leadership also has a Service Chair who provides opportunities for their cohorts to serve.
Please contact your Service Chair for more information.
Student Events
The Office of Student Engagement and Success organizes on-campus and virtual events for current RMU students, including monthly on-campus student engagement activities, monthly virtual trivia for non-residential students, and events put on by the Student Social Committee.
