FAQ
What is the difference between Graduation and Commencement?
Graduation is the process whereby your degree is conferred so that you can officially use your new title/credentials. Upon graduation (if you have no outstanding financial obligations to the University), your diploma will be mailed to you in approximately 4-6 weeks.
Commencement is the symbolic ceremony held in Utah to celebrate the completion of your degree. The ceremony does not officially confer degrees, nor will you receive your diploma at this event.
How many people are we allowed to bring? How many tickets are available?
At previous commencement events, students were limited in the number of tickets they could request due to space limitations. At the UCCU Center, that is no longer a concern, so tickets will not be required for this event.
Is commencement attendance required
No, attendance is not required but highly encouraged. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to celebrate your achievements!
How long will it take for my degree to be conferred?
The degree conferral process takes approximately 2-3 weeks after final grades are submitted for the semester.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Graduates who have been granted degrees within the past 18 months and have not already attended a previous ceremony.
Current students who:
are scheduled to complete degree requirements in the same calendar year as the ceremony,
have a minimum required GPA of 3.0, AND
have received their Program Director’s approval to attend.
