Employee Assignments (2025)
Commencement is a team effort, and the success of each ceremony depends on the dedication and coordination of our employees. Per the RMU Employee Handbook, all on-site employees must volunteer at Commencement unless excused by a supervisor. In this section, you’ll find detailed assignments, responsibilities, and timeframes for faculty and staff participating in the event. Whether you’re helping with setup, guiding graduates, or assisting guests, your role makes a difference.

Description
Ensure that the stage and ramp set-up is as requested (chairs, tables for diplomas/awards). Mark “x” with tape on ramp for hooding and diploma covers (where student should stand to be hooded, and where Provost and student should stand for pictures). Set up tables, diploma covers, awards, programs, hooding cheat sheets, water bottles, name tents.

- Employee Check-in time – see Assignments tab.
- 9AM Teleprompter rehearsal for speakers (on stage)
- 9AM Hooding run-through rehearsal (if desired, on stage)
- 10AM for remaining Administration, Faculty, and Board of Trustees.
- Regalia and Refreshments available for Admin/Faculty/BoT/Staff in Presidential South Suite (PSS) on 3rd floor (elevators/stairwell on Southwest corner of building).
- 10:40AM Final line-up in Presidential South Suite, file downstairs to be in place for processional by 10:50AM.
- 11AM Processional/Ceremony begins.
- Immediately following the ceremony, photo opportunities for/with graduates will be available outside the West Entrance.
